About Fabian

I am currently a qualified teacher librarian and secondary classroom teacher. In 2009 I attained my secondary school teacher qualifications from the Australian Catholic University, specialising in History, Economics and Commerce. Three years later (2012),I was awarded a Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship) Degree from Charles Sturt University, completing my studies by distance mode.

Since graduation, I have engaged in casual and temporary employment as a Teacher Librarian and at times, teaching History, Geography and Commerce. This has been across the public, Catholic and independent school systems.

My colleagues, supervisors and school leadership teams have praised me for my enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication especially in the following areas:
  • Effective management of school libraries.
  • Creation of wide reading programs and initiatives to foster a positive reading culture within the wider school community.
  • Knowledge of literature and supporting reluctant readers and students with low reading skills.
  • Collaboration with teaching staff in the delivery of information literacy skills in the classroom aligned with syllabus requirements and teaching and learning programs to foster skills for lifelong learning.
  • Resourcing for the curriculum.
  • Providing support for students undertaking research projects in Stages 4-6.
  • Creation of library spaces that are flexible and accommodating to a wide variety of learning needs.
In March 2018, I was elected as a Metropolitan Representative to the Committee for the School Library Association of NSW (SLANSW) and was reelected for a two year term in December 2019.

In addition, I am a Justice of the Peace in and for the State of New South Wales.
